TWO POEMS

Translated by Lucas Klein

Untitled

Time to meet     is hard to find     and parting, too, is hard
The east wind     has no force     and a hundred flowers fail

Unless spring silkworms     reach their death     silk cannot be spun
When waxy candles     turn to ash     will tears begin to dry

In the morning at the mirror     her only worry     is temples turning white
At night she'll recite     and then should feel     the chill glow of the moon

To Mount Peng     from this place     run no range of roads
Bluegreen bird     my mood is heavy     so spy a glance for me
